Protection Functions

Protection Description
Solar reverse-charging protection Prevents the battery from feeding current back into the solar panel when battery voltage is higher than PV voltage, such as at night.
Battery reverse-polarity protection Internal fuse protects the circuit when battery polarity is reversed; if the controller does not operate after correct reconnection, the fuse should be checked.
Battery open-circuit protection Protects the controller when the battery becomes open-circuit or poorly connected; battery connections should be checked regularly.
Over-voltage / over-current / over-load voltage protection Automatic braking and circuit protection are used to protect the wind generator, battery and output when limits are exceeded.
Lightning protection support In lightning-prone areas, the manual recommends dedicated external lightning-protection devices as part of a multilevel protection system; this is an optional additional requirement.

Physical Dimensions

  • Controller size: 167 x 145.5 x 61.8 mm.
  • Package size: 360 x 250 x 120 mm.
  • Net weight: 1.9 kg.
  • Gross weight: 2.3 kg.

Installation Notes

  • Read the installation instructions before mounting or wiring.
  • Disconnect all power sources before installing or adjusting the controller.
  • Keep the controller away from water, snow, corrosive gas and strong electromagnetic interference.
  • Choose a location that allows safe installation, electrical connection and later maintenance.

Wiring Sequence and Connections

  • Dump load: connect the external dump-load positive and negative terminals to the controller as indicated by the terminal markings.
  • DC load: connect load positive and negative correctly, avoid short circuit, and do not exceed the rated load current.
  • Battery: connect battery positive and negative correctly. The controller must not be operated without the battery connection.
  • Solar PV: connect PV positive and negative correctly. PV can produce hazardous voltage in sunlight; reverse polarity is prohibited.
  • Wind generator: connect the three wind-generator leads to the wind input terminals. For safer connection, connect in breeze or windless conditions; high-speed wind-generator connection should only be made while the controller is operating.

LCD and Operation

  • OK key: long press for more than 3 seconds to enter settings; use it to move to the next setting item; long press again to save parameters and exit.
  • Previous/Increase key: moves to the previous browsing item; in settings it increases the selected value, with long-press for faster adjustment.
  • Next/Decrease key: moves to the next browsing item; in settings it decreases the selected value, with long-press for faster adjustment.
  • Esc key: returns to the main browsing interface; in settings it moves to the previous setting item; long press for more than 3 seconds exits without saving.
  • If no key is pressed for approximately one minute during setting, modified parameters are not saved and the controller returns to the browsing interface.

Display Information

  • Battery voltage, battery capacity percentage, battery current, battery power and cumulative output.
  • PV voltage, PV current and PV power.
  • Wind-turbine voltage, current and power, including charging/braking indication.
  • Load operating mode, load power, load current and load fault code.
  • Controller temperature and temperature status code.
  • System-voltage status for 12V, 24V and 48V systems, including automatic-recognition modes.

FAQ from Supplier Manual

Question Answer
Wind generator becomes very slow immediately after connection Possible causes listed in the manual: battery has reached floating voltage; wind-generator rated output voltage is much higher than the battery and its speed is pulled down by battery voltage; or the dump-load MOS may have been damaged by incorrect operation.
Why does the wind generator dump load when only a small current is displayed? The controller protects the system based on battery voltage, charging current, temperature and other conditions. It may activate dump load at floating voltage or high temperature regardless of displayed charging current.
LCD does not display Check the battery-to-controller connection. If the battery is damaged, check and replace it.
No charging current Charging occurs only when the solar-panel or wind-generator input voltage is higher than the battery voltage.
